Our Solution
ERT’s Operations, Maintenance and Sustainment (OMS) team provides a full, end-to-end data lifecycle vehicle that supports all National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Operational systems by receiving environmental and physical earth observations on the ground via the satellite ground systems.
This raw “level 0” data then progresses through level 1b, level 2 and level 3 data processing, to provide weather and environmental data products that are distributed to various entities around the world including the NWS, other Governmental agencies, academic and research institutions, international partners, private corporations, and the general public.
Our Approach
The OMS program provides an enterprise framework that combines satellite ground system operations and maintenance with sustainment to facilitate quicker operational refresh, enhancements and upgrades. We incorporate lessons learned from operational experiences to enhance the systems and baselines delivered to Operations. ERT’s integrated team approach delivers improved efficiencies at a lower cost.
Results
Data Standardization for Maximum Accessibility Benefit to NOAA
OMS facilitates the delivery of standardized versions of weather, environment, and climate data products to support accurate and timely forecasting, enable cutting-edge research, and provide greater transparency for U.S. citizens and international partners.
Actionable Insights for Preparedness and Public Protections
OMS supports timely notifications of extreme weather events by providing reliable actionable operational data to inform decision makers working to protect life and property to the maximum extent possible.
Security Management and Risk Mitigation
Timely delivery of IT Security A&A efforts have continually lowered mission risk scores, including recording low risk levels for two missions for the first time.
Operational Cost Savings
OMS has decreased program costs through labor savings, procurement savings, and refined systems engineering that delivers better solutions at the lowest cost alternative. OMS has delivered all contractual deliverables above the AQL (98%) for the life of the contract.
Historical Data Consolidation and Maintenance
The OMS program manages the Enterprise Archive Capability to capture data observations, products, and inputs from outside entities into a single, all-inclusive archive that carries over 30 years of historical data produced across all NOAA satellites.
